I've been passionate about dance music for the last 17 years and decided that it was time to give up being a punter by trying life on the other side of the decks as a DJ. In May 2006 I bought decks, locked myself in a room for 8 months and taught myself how to mix.
If I was asked to describe my sound I would say it's an organic driving sound which is accompanied by melody, mayhem and deep groove.
At the age of 34, becoming a DJ at one point was only a dream but persistence and a firm belief in myself saw me score my first opportunity in March 2007 playing at Interview vs Push alongside Ben Evans at Tilt bar in Melbourne. From that point my hunger for playing more gigs grew and I went on to have an awesome first year.Throughout 2007, I learned to develop my own style playing anything from trance to tech-trance. In November that same year I got the chance to play at Earthcore and was I blown away by how amazing the sound was out there. Instantly I changed from playing 'trance' to concentrate purely on psychedelic grooves and it’s been an incredible ride ever since.
I love this genre and find that many other genre’s reside deep within psy so I see my sound as limitless when I look to challenge myself. I have been described by some as having a sound that sits somewhere between progressive and psy. If I was asked to describe my sound I would say it's an organic banging driving sound which is accompanied by melody, mayhem and deep groove.
In the short time I've been playing I have supported international acts such as Mark Sherry, JOOF, Marcel Woods, Scott Project, Tyuoshi Suzuki, Dave the Drummer, Eskimo and Fatali. I hold 3 residencies for nights such as Interview, Nexus and Substance with possibly more to come in the future.
So far 2009 has been awesome for me with opportunities on offer all the time. I’m thoroughly enjoying myself out there and hope to see as many of you as possible gracing the dance floors of Melbourne.
