Jeremy K
It’s not an overly flamboyant statement to proclaim Jeremy K as one of the best of his genre, although pigeon holing his diverse nature is a difficult and unwilling task. His innocent looks may deceive at first glance, but he is nothing short of a demon behind the decks and within his music; passionate in his assault, versatile in his selection and technically perfect.
In 1992, nine years ago, Jeremy K took to the decks, starting at Area Nightclub in Croydon where his mate (Atom 1) was DJing and gave him a shot, going on to develop his skills and passions in the years dubbed as the essence of the rave scene. But his eagerness to become a DJ dated back to the late 70s, where he would sit playing for hours on his uncle’s record player and his love for electronic music started from two main tunes: ‘Stakker’ by Humanoid (1988) & ‘Quadrophonia’ by Quadrophonia (1991).
Jeremy has produced some of the most individual yet quintessentially Jeremy K tracks. "Driving, yet progressive feel with a melodic hook that stands out like dogs balls!"
In late 1992 Jeremy played his first professional gig at a night called ‘Whizz’ at the mansion and since then has accumulated a long history of events including the Oosh party series, September Gatecrasher 2000, Welcome 2001, Summadayze 2001 just to name a few, as well as holding residencies at numerous clubs throughout the Melbourne circuit.September 2000 Gatecrasher holds the title of ‘Favourite Gig’ for Jeremy K and possibly for anyone who witnessed his onslaught. Commencing at 12pm and initially playing to a fairly empty docks shed, within ten minutes the entire shed was full and standing in awe of Jeremy K’s talent and also the passion he was playing with. There was a raucous applauding and hooting as he left the decks; the crowd’s response was amazing so I quizzed Jeremy on the importance of his crowd. "The crowd are very important, if they’re not dancing it’s not happening!"
With nine years of experience also comes nine years of an amazing and versatile vinyl collection with the sounds of old school rave, old school house, old school trance, progressive, hard trance, NRG and eighties, “If you pay me shit loads!” occupying the record crate of Jeremy K- refueling the crate spontaneously. "I’m a spontaneous shopper. Could be none one week, then ten the next."
At present progressive and hard trance sounds define his style, playing tracks off labels such as Kontor, Overdose, Nukleuz, Chaos, Noom and Edm. However there is a distinct quality in Jeremy’s style, which distinguishes him in the crowd- beautifully dark at times, deep and driving.
Over the past three years, Jeremy has converted this quality into production work of his own. Drawing inspiration from constant brainstorming and tunes that really stand out to him and using equipment such as sound modules, samplers, compressors, efx units, desk mixer, computer and enhancers.
