Joe Bennett aka Effin See

I started djing in my garage annoying my neighbours just before my 30th birthday in September 2006, it was then in January/February 2007 that I was invited to play my first set at a mates beach party which due to terrible weather was moved indoors to the now defunct Tilt Nightclub in Melbourne. From these humble beginnings I have been lucky enough to receive invitations to play alongside just about all of my favourite djs and at my favourite events and festivals in Melbourne. I have won competitions to get sets to play at Darkbeats 4th Birthday & the Earthcore Global Carnival in 2007 where I played techno on the Hydra Stage, the latter being one of my all time favourite festivals, so it was an honour to play at.

I have held rotation positions at Risque which was at Circus and also with Plush and Plush presents Intermission at the Element Lounge in Melbourne.

I play a mixed blend of techno, tech-house, progressive, minimal and not so much anymore, but deep dark twisted shit. More recently my upbeat techno sets have been holding dance floors for hours and I can’t get enough of them.

I love my music and I love Fucking Techno!

The name Effin See actually came from a bottle of Effen vodka of which I dropped whilst on the phone to a friend trying to work out a dj name, I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination.

I am also a professional photographer, I shoot night clubs, the occasional wedding, social scenes, city scapes and product shoots. I have done product shoots for Puma Australia and have shot many times for www.inthemix.com.au and www.WorldDJ.com.

I have had one major exhibition, From Web to Wall, which was with 19 other photographers at the 69 Smith Street, Fitzroy gallery and I have had two hangings of 20+ pieces at Bar None in Camberwell.
