Hello and thank you for reading my bio. You may notice that this is not written in 3rd person… that’s just how I roll.
My passion for electronic dance music (EDM) stems from a young age as a teenager. Attending underage dance parties and purchasing as many import music CD’s as possible I soon found myself immersed in all facets of EDM and the associated scene. I began listening to international DJ’s like Tall Paul, Judge Jules and Carl Cox from the age of 15.
One particular Friday afternoon when school had finished, I waited at a local train station for the bus to arrive. A man was setting up speakers and decks in front of the community hall across the road. Suddenly the whole street was immersed in the sudden sounds of some scratching and then out of nowhere he drops Run-DMC – It’s Tricky. Hundreds of school kids went nuts, dancing out in the streets at a mere 4pm. I had never seen anything like it in my life. It was at that moment I realized that I too would one day like to be a DJ.
You can often find me playing out on Saturday nights at my local residency bars Vinyl Lounge and Mango Lounge Bar. I have also delved into the club environment running a launch party night at Room680, and hope to continue playing at Melbourne’s vast amount of excellent venues.
Sometime later in my life I was able to purchase my first Technics SL-1210 mk2 decks (thank you Richard Branson & Virgin Money Credit Cards) and mixer. My collection of vinyl grew at a massive rate with about 300 purchases in the first year. I soon began to realize I would not be able to financially support my vinyl addiction, and ended up joining the ranks of digital DJ’s. Doing so has also opened up new doors allowing me to become a very diverse DJ.My style of play can be anywhere from deep and melodic progressive, chunky dark techno all the way through to emotionally strong, driving trance. My influences include many local DJ’s as they are the ones who inspire me to grow, Armin Van Buuren for his beautiful productions and events, Sander Van Doorn for just being bad ass, Deadmau5 for being what I consider the most influential artist in the past 2 years and of course all of the legendary producers of trance/house over the past 15 years.
Oh, and I also enjoy long walks along the beach.
See you on the dance floor.
